About vCard QR codes

A vCard QR code encodes your contact details in the standard .vcf format. When someone scans it with their phone's camera, their operating system recognises the data and offers to save you as a new contact - no typing, no misspelled numbers.

It's the digital business card. Put it on the back of a printed card, in your email signature, on a conference badge, at a trade show booth, or in a shop window. Anyone with a phone can get your details in two seconds.

This free tool generates a static QR code - the contact data is baked into the QR pattern itself. That means it works forever, but you can't change what it contains after printing. If you change jobs, get a new number, or move office, you'll need to generate a new QR and replace anywhere you've used the old one.

If that's a problem, a dynamic vCard QR (free with a Hovercode account) lets you update the details behind the QR anytime - same code, always fresh.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android both recognise the vCard format natively - scan the QR with the camera app, tap the banner that appears, and the contact is saved. No extra app needed on either platform.
What information can I include?
Name, mobile number, landline, email, website, company, job title, full postal address, and a short description. Leave any field blank to skip it.
Can I add a profile photo?
Not with the free static version - a photo would make the QR code too dense to scan reliably. Photos require a dynamic QR, where the image lives on a page the QR redirects to.
What happens if I change my number or job?
The static QR generated here is permanent - the data is encoded into the QR itself. You'd need to generate a new QR and replace any existing copies. For a QR you can update without reprinting, use a dynamic vCard QR with a free Hovercode account.
Is this really free?
Yes - no sign-up, no watermark, no limits. The QR is yours to print and use wherever you want.
